History:

This was first released in Korea in April 2013, the first to introduce the concept of a 'finisher' into Korean's basic skincare routine. Inspired by the traditional 'Mi-an', translated as "beautifying finish", this 'finisher' regimen was known to be formulated 1500 years ago during the Age of Three Empires.

Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher works by forming a natural protective barrier on the skin and help enhance the efficacy of preceding products by locking the active ingredients in the skin to achieve glowing, luminous skin.

The two main ingredients in this product are Green Tea and Korean Red Ginseng, a signature blend called Locsamhyo, that enhances brightness, clarity, glow and moisture level of the skin. This blend involves a unique process called Poje where it eliminates any unnecessary substance as well as increase the efficacy of the two key ingredients. It's proven to produce 21% more collagen after going through the Poje process. Each bottle contains an equivalent power to the concentrates of 5 roots of ginseng and 110 cups of green tea.

BeBoua’s Review:

After learning about Sulwhasoo products, I got pretty curious about the “Luminature Essential Finisher” and really wanted to try it out. Of course, I didn’t know much about it.

So, what is a finisher?? It’s the last step of the skin care routine BUT it’s before applying any makeup. Basically, it helps protect and lock the skin care products on the skin and same time acts as a primer for makeup… However, it’s not considered a primer since this is more of skin care rather than make up product.

The product comes in a pump glass bottle which makes it look classy. It is a bit heavy to carry around and travel with it but there are small traveling sizes that can be purchase. The product has a light lotion texture to it which helps easily spread on the skin. There’s a light herbal scent/ fragrance to it that’s not strong but may cause irritation to sensitive skin. However, the scent did not break me out.

I’ve been using this for a little more than a year and it’s still in my skin care routine. It’s one of my favorite products from Sulwhasoo. For having combination skin, it does make my face look oily in the middle of the day BUT I noticed that my makeup is still nicely in place. All I do is use the blotting paper and BAM all freshen up and continue the rest of the day.

I mostly use this in the morning after my lotion and before my sunscreen. During the summer, it can be a bit too much products on the face and makes it feel thick and greasy feeling. So, instead of using creams, I use light weight lotion after my serum. However, during the winter time my skin loves the extra moisture on the face.

I don’t use this at night all the time because I use other products like sleeping masks. When I do use it at night, it’s the last product I apply before I go to la la land and when I wake up, my face have that morning glow.

Pros:

Dewy & glowing skin
Helps keep skin care products on the skin
Assist keeping make up last longer

Cons:

Expensive
Heavy to travel with unless purchase a travel size.
Extra product on the face and can cause greasiness

Bottom Line:

This product is more of a high-end skincare line and can be expensive. There are other finisher products which I have no yet tried and perhaps I will so I can compare it to this. However, with one pump of Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential it works my entire face - little goes a long way… So it’ll be awhile before I finish this! This product gives a radiant skin and dewy look. My face glows after using the product. So I do recommend trying this product out and I will continue to purchase it.
