BeBoua’s Review:

I am a fan of Skinfood, it’s a retail brand in Korea. Almost like Burt’s Bees at Target or Walgreens store in America. I wanted to try the sugar scrub because of the good reviews Skinfood also offer different kinds of scrubs like rice, strawberries etc... I wanted something strong enough to help get rid of my dead skin cells on my face yet gentle enough to not scratch my face off.

The packaging is in a simple round plastic container. I do like the extra thin lid because it helps prevent any messy leakage. The product is a thick sugary cream texture. The brown sugar grain is a bit rough to scrub. There is a light fragrance scents to it and might cause some irritation to people with sensitive skin. However, it didn’t cause any irritation to my skin, just a little red around the cheeks once I finished scrubbing my face.

After I wash my face I follow up with a scrub once or twice a week. I leave the scrub on as a mask for 5 minutes then damped my hand in a luke warm water to help penetration the product as a scrub. Once the scrubbing and washing is done, my face was slightly red but it’s soft and smooth. It feels super clean and the clogged pores got scrubbed away too!

Sometimes – when I have more time for my night routine, I add a hydrating sheet mask for 15-20 minutes. This helped reduced the redness and that was on my cheeks.  After that, I do my usual night treatments/serums. I didn’t feel any dry or flakiness on the skin or any side effects… Just don’t over scrub… Just gently massage it. The exfoliation totally helps with the oily T-zone area!!!

One of the things I dislike about the product besides having some kind of fragrance is that it’s not hygienic friendly. I’m not a fan of putting my hands or fingers in a jar product even after I washed my hands. I like to use a spatula for all jar products in order to not contaminate with germs or bacteria.

Pros:

Affordable
Does the job and exfoliate

Cons:

Fragrance
Not hygienic friendly
Can be harsh for sensitive skin

Bottom Line:

Exfoliation is important to add in the skin care routine as it helps get rid of the dead skin cells and clogged pores. Having said that, I do like this product as it does the job and leaves my skin soft! The price is reasonable and it can last for a while since exfoliation is not done every day. It did leave my cheek area a little red since I’m more sensitive there but it didn’t break me out at all. For people who are worried with this scrub being too harsh, maybe you can try out CURE gentle scrub, I wrote a review about it HERE. However, for people who wants to get rid of clogged pores and improve oily skin, try this out!

  1. Damn, it looks so pretty in the picture. It looks like chocolate! Anyway, I am interested to try this but I have acne-prone skin which means there will be drying acne on my face all the damn time. Will it leaves acne scar if I use it on my face?
